What is 'The Gathering'??
by posted 05/18/2012
You can found out all about the Irish Governments 'The Gathering' Initiative which is due to take place throughout 2013 on the Official website http://www.thegatheringireland.com/Home.aspx
What is 'The Gathering'???
It’s about asking anyone who has Irish blood, a link to Ireland, or even just a love of our country – to join us for a series of amazing and diverse events throughout 2013.
They will range from clan gatherings where people will discover their roots, to rugby clubs inviting foreign teams to their sevens tournament, and groups of international business colleagues conferencing in Ireland.
Those amazing events will be created by you, your neighbour, your work colleague or your sports team. They will be organised by individuals, groups, business colleagues and clubs within the community who will reach out to their worldwide networks. For those organising the events, there will be lots of information, help and support available on this website over the coming months.
The Gathering is a powerful grass-roots movement. By reconnecting with our global community, it will be like completing an electrical circuit. Energy will flow and our community will light up and sparkle with its own vitality.
Let’s light up 2013 with an unprecedented celebration of Ireland’s global community, and our past, present and future.

Poll : CYC in Ireland in 2013
by Simon Gillespie posted 05/17/2012
The Finals of the 2013 CYC may be played in Croke Park
The below letter came in from the CYC Steering Committee, we are asking all our members to send us your thoughts and comments regarding the possibilty of having CYC in Ireland in 2013 and what kind of attendance would be possible. Please click here to vote in the Online Poll.
Recently the CYC Steering Committe was invited to present the CYC story to other International Units (Asia, Australia, Europe, UK). We also had the honor of presenting to both the outgoing GAA President and the Incoming along with the management committee of the GAA.
As a result of the presentation to management we were requested to consider scheduling the CYC in Ireland for 2013. The Tournament would be a part of the Irish Goverment's initiative "The Gathering" which invites the Irish Diaspora to Ireland during 2013. What a great way to celebrate the CYC ten year anniversary!!
Teams will be given the opportunity to attend games in Croke Park (The home of the GAA). Free game tickets will be available for all traveling families. In addition we may be able to play our finals in Croke park. This would be a once in a lifetime experience for our Kids!
The CYC Steering Committee recognizes the additional expense for travelling families and has received assurances from the GAA that every effort will be made to subsidize the teams travelling. Irish goverment grants and company sponsorships should be available to help offset some of the additional travel costs.
We would like to get an estimate of how many teams would be interested in traveling to Ireland for 2013. So please would every club point a person to provide me a response by 3:00pm on May 21st, 2012. I apologize for the short notice but this is the time frame we were handed to get all response back to the CYC committee. We would also enjoy hearing all your comments and concerns on having CYC in Ireland for 2013.
So would the point person from each club please get in touch with ASAP @

Yeats County take on Big Apple in Championship Opener:
by Simon Gillespie posted 04/26/2012
Yeats County take on Big Apple in Championship Opener:
The All Ireland Senior Football Championship begins less than ten days from now with the contest between Sligo and New York in the opening round of the Connacht Championship. This year will mark New York's 13th year in the Senior Football Championship and hopes are high in the Big Apple that this year could be the year the Exiles claim their first ever Championship win.
Sligo will be this years opponents and will make the long journey to Gaelic Park in the Bronx next Sunday to take on the Exiles in what promises to be a packed stadium for the occasion. Sligo last travelled to New York in 2007 where they recorded a facile win over the Exiles, however they also hold the unwanted record of being the only team to lose an FBD Final stateside when they were defeated by the New Yorkers in 2004. The Yeatsmen will look to their twin attacking threats of Adrian Marren and Mark Breheny to provide the scores and have looked impressive throughout the league campaign recording wins over Roscommon, Offaly, Tipperary and Wexford. The return of Eamon O'Hara from injury promises to boost Sligo's chances in this encounter.
New York will have it all to do if they are to record a famous win in Gaelic Park. The team is captained by Tyrone native, Errigal Ciaran's own Ronan McGinley and contains a mixture of seasoned campaigners in the New York colours, new additions to the squad and a host of Irish American players looking to represent their native county. Under the tutelage of Connie Molloy and Mickey Coleman (a former All Ireland Winner himself with Tyrone) the team have worked hard throughout the winter months and will be sure to rattle the 2007 Connacht Champions.
The match will be preceded by a game featuring the New York U14 Feile All Stars due to travel to Offaly /Laois in June who will take on a Delco Gaels select from Philadelphia.

CYC needs your help!!!
posted 03/15/2012
As we enter our ninth year of the most popular Gaelic Games tournament in North America, the CYC Steering Committee recognizes the tournament’s significant growth since the inaugural event in 2004. This growth has caused us to take a strategic look at the tournament and acknowledge the need for additional resources. As a result we would like to establish a Development Committee and are looking for highly networked individuals with the necessary professional skill set including but not limited to legal, marketing, communications, graphic design, sales, finance, public relations and technology. This may be an opportunity to contribute time to further enhance the kids’ annual experience.
If you are interested in being part of this International opportunity please contact Liam Hegarty at
and forward a brief resume of your experience by March 31, 2012. Our goal is to have the committee established by June 15, 2012 with 6-10 members.
Yours in Sport,
Liam Hegarty

Introducing the latest in underage Hurling technology the Hurlóg!
The hurlóg was designed with the intention that it would be used as a starter hurl for every child. It has been designed to be used – made to have fun.
It has an ideal size and weight (approx half the weight of an equivalent size ash hurl) which gives children the opportunity to learn how to properly hold and swing a hurlóg. Generally a 16″ hurlóg will be fine for a child up to 2.5 years. An 18″ should be fine for a child aged 2.5 – 4 years and a size 20″ for age 4 – 6 years.
In addition to supplying individual hurlógs we also supply kits (in quantities of 20 or more) for schools and clubs. Please contact us directly if you want to buy a kit of hurlógs.
To learn more about Hurlóg check out the hurlóg website or email Ciara
